[Macau Daily News] Jia Weijia, deputy director of the Key Laboratory of Smart City Internet of Things at the University of Macau, said that Macau’s smart city has made great progress, but there is still a lot of room for development. For example, there is still room for improvement in Macao’s smart travel, providing personalized travel solutions for tourists and residents to alleviate traffic pressure.
The university is studying the results and will first provide the government with solutions in terms of basic theory and fundamentals, including providing the government with optimal allocation suggestions for various traffic bottlenecks in Macao, and will launch them as soon as possible by the end of this year and the first half of next year. It even went beyond Macau to promote the plan to the Greater Bay Area to promote cooperation among cities in the Bay Area.
The government supports research in the field of smart cities, especially the Science and Technology Development Fund, which provides strong support. The Key Laboratory of Smart City Internet of Things at the University of Macau has just been established. The team includes more than 30 teachers and students, and will expand to more than 100 people in the future.
