The University of Macau (UM) State Key Laboratory of Internet of Things for Smart City plans to establish an effective sensing and transmission system based on 5G technology, with the support of the CTM. The lab plans to analyse the 5G architecture in order to provide efficient solutions for smart sensing and transmission to support Macao’s effort to build a smart city.

Earlier, UM and CTM signed a collaboration agreement on 5G mobile telecommunications technology. CTM’s providing complete support to UM for testing the application of 5G technology is a concrete step in implementing the agreement. With the aid of the relevant network technology, UM will be able to carry out research in IoT applications for smart cities in a more effective manner. The research results are expected to enhance Macao’s comprehensive strengths in building a smart city. Both parties will continue to maintain close communication and collaboration in the future.

In addition, both parties hope to explore more applications of 5G technology with more stakeholders in Macao.
