Seminar on Smart City and Internet of Things

[Macau Daily News] The Macau Electrical and Electronics Engineering Society held a “Smart City and Internet of Things” seminar at the conference hall of the Macau Science Center at 3 pm today, inviting Jia Weijia, deputy director of the Key Laboratory of Smart City Internet of Things at the University of Macau, and associate professor of Southwest Jiaotong University Liang Hongbin, Qiu Zhijun, consultant of the Macau Internet Association, Zhu Shengqing, expert database expert of the Smart City Roads and Bridges Professional Committee of the China Municipal Engineering Association, and Wei Yongsen, chief technology officer of Inspur Group Smart City Research Institute, served as speakers.

Liu Xiaoju, chairman of the Macau Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, said that with the rapid economic growth and expanding population of Macau, the existing urban management model, transportation system, emergency system, environment and public safety and other fields are facing unprecedented challenges. The smart city concept with networking technology as its core provides a new model for the future development of cities. It is hoped that through this seminar, well-known suppliers and entities with rich construction and operation experience will introduce their advanced technologies, solutions and practical cases, provide experience reference and development ideas for Macao’s smart city construction, and promote the application of advanced technologies in Macao innovative applications.
