UM’s SKL-IOTSC inaugurates its first Academic Committee

The State Key Laboratory of the Internet of Things for Smart City (University of Macau) (SKL-IOTSC) held an inauguration ceremony for its first Academic Committee, which was followed by the committee’s first meeting in 2019. The first Academic Committee is comprised of 13 academicians, experts and scholars in different fields.

Big Data expert Mei Hong and five scholars give talks at UM on smart cities

In the same year, the teenage Weijia Jia put down his hoe and left his home in rural Guizhou for a university in Hunan province, where he embarked on a new chapter of his life that would eventually launch him on a career studying big data and the Internet of Things (IoT).

UM, Chinese Academy of Sciences establish joint lab on AI and robotics

The University of Macau (UM) today (27 May) held an inauguration ceremony for the Joint Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics between UM and the Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology (SIAT) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), which was followed by a joint forum. The lab aims to provide a platform for collaborative research in artificial intelligence and robotics and is expected to enhance the research capacity of both sides.

Three international conferences in big data and artificial intelligence held in Macao

The University of Macau (UM) Faculty of Science and Technology, the UM State Key Lab of Internet of Things for Smart City, and the Macao Convention and Exhibition Association, have successfully assisted Macao in obtaining the right to host the three most influential international conferences in the areas of big data and artificial intelligence, namely the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers International Conference on Data Engineering 2019 (ICDE 2019), the Pacific-Asia Conference on Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining 2019 (PAKDD 2019), and the International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence 2019 (IJCAI 2019).

Minister of Science and Technology highly praises UM’s research achievements

A delegation led by Wang Zhigang, minister of science and technology of China, today (28 March) visited the University of Macau (UM) and was warmly received by UM University Council Chair Lam Kam Seng, Rector Yonghua Song, and Vice Rectors Lionel Ni and Ge Wei.
