We are delighted to announce that four professors from IOTSC have recently been promoted to higher academic ranks. This recognition reflects their years of dedication to, research, teaching and academic service, and marks an exciting new chapter in their professional journeys.
The promoted professors include:
Dr. Guanghui Hu – promoted to Full Professor, member of State Key Laboratory of Internet of Things for Smart City, University of Macau. He obtained his BSc (2003) and MSc (2006) from School of Mathematics of Sichuan University, and PhD (2010) from Department of Mathematics of Hong Kong Baptist University. From 2010 to 2012, he worked at Department of Mathematics of Michigan State University as a postdoc. His research interest is the design and analysis of numerical methods for partial differential equations, as well as the applications in computational physics. His research is supported by the Excellent Young Scientist Fund of NSFC, grants from FDCT of Macao SAR, etc, and over 60 papers have been published. He is the editor of SCI journals Commun. Comput. Phys. and Advan. Appl. Math. Mech., and a Chinese journal Math. Numer. Sin.. From 2024, he serves as a member of Executive Committee of SIAM East Asian Section, and China Society for Computational Mathematics.
Dr. Yuan Wu – promoted to Full Professor, member of State Key Laboratory of Internet of Things for Smart City, University of Macau. He received the Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Information Engineering from Zhejiang University and the Ph.D. Degree in Electronic and Computer Engineering from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, in 2004 and 2010, respectively. He was the Senior Visiting Scholar with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Waterloo, Canada. His research areas focus on resource management for advanced wireless networks, mobile edge computing and edge intelligence, and integrated sensing, communication and computing networks.
Dr. Zhixin Yang – promoted to Full Professor, member of State Key Laboratory of Internet of Things for Smart City, University of Macau. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and Automation from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, followed by a PhD in Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. His research interests focus on the prognostic health management of electromechanical equipment, and robotics for safety monitoring. He has received the National Innovation Excellence Award.
Dr. Hongcai Zhang – promoted to Associate Professor, member of State Key Laboratory of Internet of Things for Smart City, University of Macau. He received the B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, in 2013 and 2018, respectively. In 2018-2019, he was a postdoctoral scholar at the University of California, Berkeley, USA. In 2019, he joined IOTSC of the University of Macau, Macao, China. Hongcai Zhang’s research focuses on urban integrated energy systems, transportation electrification, data analytics & artificial intelligence.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to these four professors and express our deep appreciation for their continued contributions to the growth and excellence of our laboratory. We look forward to seeing them thrive in their new roles and continue to inspire those around them.
