The 2020 Macao Smart Streetlight Innovation Challenge for Youth was successfully organized by State Key Laboratory of Internet of Things for Smart City (University of Macau) (IOTSC) and Companhia de Electricidade de Macau (CEM)”, and entrusted to Centre for Science and Engineering Promotion (University of Macau) to encouraged the local youth to emerge their talents and innovation about the smart city construction. The award ceremony was held in the IOTSC multifunctional hall, N21 Research Building, University of Macau, on 17 January.
The challenge is classified into two groups: (1) Outlook Design Group required to select a specific place of Macao combined with geographical location, the surrounding landscape, cultural features and smart streetlight capability etc. Participants have to provide a design drawing of the smart streetlight with explanation; (2) Technical Solution Group required to integrate original smart streetlight technology proposal with characteristics of Macao and the latest technological development.
The organizer received over 140 works from over 10 local middle schools. After the fierce competition, the First, Second and Third prizes were selected. One winner for the First and Second prize in each group. Seven winners for Third prize in Outlook Design Group and eight winners for Third prize in Technical Solution Group. The guests from the Liaison office of the Central People’s Government in the MACAO S.A.R., Macau Education and Youth Affairs Bureau (DSEJ), Macau Environmental Protection Bureau (DSPA), Science and Technology Development Fund, University of Macau, and Companhia de Electricidade de Macau (CEM) presented the award certificates to the winners.
